SPRINGTIME IN THE CAROLINAS

SUN-FRI – APRIL 25-30, 2010

Springtime abounds with its own special charms in the Carolinas. Hilton Head with modern-day plantations, historical cemeteries, marinas, and beaches are all waiting to be explored. The warm breezes will lead you to Charleston where dukes, barons, and earls once presided over the great coastal plantations, building an extensive, now historic, downtown district. Then on to discover the southern hospitality of Savannah, Georgia with its cobblestone streets, antebellum homes and churches.

Sunday, April 25
Depart 6:00 AM from the north end of the Park & Ride on Deereco Road (1/4 mile south off Padonia Road – Exit 17 off I-83) and 6:30 AM from the Carney Park & Ride on Harford Road and Jomat Avenue (3/4 mile north off beltway Exit 31-B). Breakfast stop on own en route. Lunch on own and rest stop before arriving approximately 6:30 PM at the La Quinta Riverview, 11 Ashley Point Drive, Charleston, SC 29407 (843-556-5200). 7:00 PM Dinner included this evening at the Crab House.

Monday, April 26
Deluxe continental breakfast at the hotel. 8:45 AM depart hotel for the Charleston Visitor’s Center. Pick up local guide here. 9-11:30AM morning tour of the Jospeh Manigault House and tour of Charleston Historic District. 11:30-12:45PM – free time for lunch on your own at the Sea Spray Cafe in the Imax Shop area. 1-2:30PM Charleston Harbour Cruise. 2:45-5:30PM free time in the Market for shopping and browsing. 5:30 PM dinner at Hyman’s Seafood Restaurant.

Tuesday, April 27
Deluxe continental breakfast at the hotel. 7:00 AM put your luggage out before coming to breakfast. 8:30 AM check out and departure for Magnolia Plantation. 9AM-1PM tour Magnolia Gardens, Tram and House Tour. Lunch on your own at the Pavilion Snack Bar. 1:00 PM depart for Hilton Head, SC. 3:00 PM stop at the Hilton Head Island Welcome Center. Pick up local guide for an overview tour of Hilton Head Island. 5:00 PM Check-in at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, One South Forest Beach Drive Hotel (843-785-5126). 6:30 PM Dinner included this evening at Grouper’s in the hotel.

Wednesday, April 28
7:00 AM breakfast at the hotel this morning. 8:30 AM depart hotel for the short drive to Savannah, Georgia. Pick up a local guide at the Savannah Visitor’s Center and everyone will have a short rest stop. 9:45 AM tour the Savannah Historic District with a visit to the Cathedral and one house museum. 12:30-2:30PM free time along the Historic Riverfront for lunch on own and shopping 2:30PM depart Savannah and return 3:30 PM to the hotel. 5:00 PM depart for Harbour Town Marina for 5:30 PM dinner at the Crazy Crab Restaurant. Free time after dinner for browsing the waterfront boutiques, or climbing the lighthouse.

Thursday, April 29
7:00 AM breakfast at the hotel this morning. 8:00 AM check out and depart Hilton Head Island for Beaufort, South Carolina. 9-11:00AM Guided tour of Beaufort and Paris Island Marine Base. 11:00AM-12:45PM Free time for lunch on own along the Bayfront Shops. 12:45 PM depart Beaufort for Myrtle Beach, SC. 3:30PM arrive in Myrtle Beach and check into the Holiday Inn Surfside, 1601 N. Ocean Blvd, Surfside Beach, SC 29575 (Tel. #843-238-5601). 6:00 PM dinner included this evening. 7:30 PM depart hotel for the short drive to the Legends In Concert Theatre. 8:00 PM Legends In Concert Show.

Friday, April 30
7:00 AM deluxe continental breakfast at the hotel and bags out. 8:00 AM depart hotel for the return to Baltimore. Lunch on own and rest stops before arriving approximately 8:00 PM at Carney Park & Ride and 8:30 PM at Deereco Park & Ride.
