This brown bag tour offers a fun-filled day of shopping at local businesses, a “taste” of their products and a delightful gift to take home.

Depart 6:30 AM from the north end of the Park & Ride on Deereco Road, 1/4 mile south off Padonia Road (exit 17 off I-83) and 7:00 AM from Carney Park & Ride on Harford Road and Jomat Avenue, 3/4 mile north off beltway exit 3l-B. 9:00 AM arrive in Bedford, PA and meet a local guide at Hoss Parking Lot across the street from the PA turnpike exit. 9:15 AM the first stop will be Fisher’s Country Store, a Mennonite owned store where you have an opportunity to purchase bulk package foods, candies and spices. A treat will be given to the group before departing. 9:45 AM back on the coach and depart for Gardner’s Candy Factory. 10:45 AM When you step inside the door, you become a kid again in this authentic old-time candy store at Gardner’s Candy Museum. Founded in the late 1800’s, the nostalgic atmosphere is furnished with a hand made candy counter, brimming candy jars and old advertising posters. 11:15 AM back on the coach and travel to Altoona. 11:45 AM arrive at Oak Spring Winery where “No Wine is Served Before its Time”. Learn about their award-winning wines and the wine making process. Samples will be offered at the end of tour and each guest will receive a gift. 12:15PM board the coach and depart for lunch. 12:30 PM luncheon buffet at the Casino at Lakemont Park. 1:30PM travel to Boyer Candy Company. 2:00PM arrive at “The Home of the Mallow Cup”. While no tour through the factory is offered, you can purchase their sweets in the discount store while having free samples. Receive a gift for your collection. 2:30 PM back on the coach and travel to Benzel’s Pretzel Bakery. 2:45PM arrive at Benzel’s and browse through the store which offers “Pennysticks” and other pretzels snacks and novelty items in the outlet. 3:15 PM a stop will be made at Meadows Original Frozen Custard for a small ice cream cone. 3:45 PM Duncansville is the next stop. 4:00 PM the final stop of the day is the Antique Depot in Duncansville to shop til you drop. Several hundred consignment booths will offer lots of opportunities to browse, reminisce about the past and make purchases. As you board the coach to depart, receive a “Slinky”, manufactured in the neighboring community of Hollidaysburg. 5:00 PM depart for the return home. Return approximately 7:30PM to Carney Park & Ride and 8:00 PM to Deereco Park & Ride.

Cost of Trip:
$79.00 per person. A $40.00 deposit per person is required to confirm the reservation. Balance is due 30 days prior to trip. Seats will be assigned upon final payment.
